Whatsapp, a popular instant messaging app with over 1.5 billion users, is one of the widely used applications in smartphones. In order to improve user experience, the Facebook-owned WhatsApp keeps on adding new features or improving existing ones for a lag-free experience.
The Company tests its new features on the beta app and after a successful trial run, these features are integrated into the main app.
Here we have compiled the top 5 features of the instant messaging app which are mostly used by users:
1) Consecutive voice notes
Consecutive voice note feature plays all the voice note from the contact consecutively thereby eliminating the tedious process of selecting the voice note one at a time to hear what your friend is trying to convey.
2) Frequently forwarded feature
This new feature helps the company to add a ‘frequently forwarded tag’ if the message is forwarded more than 5 times. It has been added by the company to alert users of spam messages.
3) Fingerprint lock
The fingerprint authentication system allows a user to protect its chat through Touch ID or Face ID. This is a useful method to hide your chats
4) Private voice notes
With this new feature, a user will be able to maintain privacy. This feature diverts the audio from loudspeaker of the phone to the earpiece when they keep the device close to their ear while hearing the voice note.
5) Group invites
A new feature in ‘Group invites’ has been added after which no user will be able to add another user in a group until the person to whom the invitation is extended have invitee’s number saved in his/her phone. Also, the invitation to join the group would expire after 72 hours.
