Google now loves Windows 10, Chrome now respects theme settings

We have reported before that Google has continued to work on their Dark Mode for Chrome on Windows 10, and their designers seem to have completed their work on the New Tab Page, History and Download pages of the browser.

The latest development, however, is that the latest Chrome Canary now respects your system-wide theme settings, meaning if you choose Dark Theme in Windows 10 your Chrome browser will also instantly switch to Dark mode.

The change is the latest in Google’s efforts to work more closely with Windows 10, including supporting the native Windows 10 Notifications feature, working on native support for Windows 10 for ARM, and of course, developing a Dark Theme for the OS.

We can’t help but feel the conversion is related to Microsoft agreeing to use the Chromium rendering engine for Edge, and if this is the case it seems a good exchange?

According to Chrome Platform status, version 74 will be released on April 23, 2019, bringing the improvements to the general public.
