On May 8, Huawei officially shared a glimpse of HarmonyOS PC UI, which is expected to be more innovative and faster than Windows. The company has significantly worked on the user interface of its upcoming HarmonyOS-powered computers.
The Chinese phone maker has revealed the first look of the HarmonyOS PC UI, which appears more impressive than Windows. It resembles a minimal, clutter-free, and innovative user interface that can offer a smart experience in every aspect.
At the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication event, Huawei said the company has laid out over 2700 patents, gathered the strength of more than 20 global research institutes, and indulged in a five-year planning to craft the HarmonyOS PC UI design.
Hence, the HarmonyOS PC UI claims to deliver a convenient and the most comprehensive experience to users. Now, let’s take a look at the HarmonyOS PC UI.
UI Design
The user interface highlights a clear layout on the Huawei PC. It has a new App Dock at the bottom of the screen that allows direct access to quick apps or features. Default apps in the dock are Settings, Browser, Gallery, Memo, App Store, and more.
Some applications are visible on the upper left corner, such as My Huawei and File Management. The lower left corner of the screen shows the Search option, whereas the lower right corner has simple functions like Wi-Fi, battery power, time and date, volume, input method, and more.

Users can further attach widgets like weather, upcoming schedules, music, and Huawei Reading on the right side of the screen as per their preference.
Overall, the fluency and smoothness of HarmonyOS PC’s user interface is seemingly better than Windows. A real-time performance will further bring clarity in this case.
Visual Effects and Smoothness
UI interaction and multi-window overloading remain smooth at all times – thanks to the Ark graphics engine. The operating system also supports a universal home screen where you can freely select or add widgets accordingly.

Moreover, the company has introduced a HarmonyOS storage folder that organizes your files efficiently. It supports a three-finger swipe up on the touchpad to hover for multitasking. A similar gesture on the screen will clear the screen.
Celia AI assistant can manage multiple tasks such as drag-and-drop files, document summaries, answering queries, translation, and image info extraction.
Dynamic wallpapers, nature-inspired themes, and simpler customizations make the HarmonyOS PC user interface more attractive.
