HOW A CLEAN COMPUTER HELPS YOU BE MORE PRODUCTIVE

Whether you’re working from home or just involved in a few computer projects, keeping a clean computer can be a great way to ensure that your productivity stays high. In this post, we’ll be explaining what it means to have a clean computer and how it can help you improve your overall productivity.

WHAT DOES KEEPING A “CLEAN” COMPUTER MEAN?

First, let’s define what it means to have a “clean” computer. When it comes to software and the way you use your computer, keeping a clean computer essentially means removing any unnecessary files and keeping your system healthy. As we use our computers, we install more software, we fill up our hard drives with files, and we run more programs at the same time. All of these things can gradually contribute to a slower computer.

This is why it’s important to clean your computer now and then by removing unnecessary files and uninstalling programs that you don’t need. However, the files that usually linger behind can often keep slowing down your PC. Thankfully, there are a number of ways to deal with this.

Finding duplicate files and removing them can be a pain. Luckily, there are programs for that. If there’s no need for you to have multiple files or similar programs installed, then removing them can free up a lot of space. You could also try to completely wipe your Windows or Mac OS installation. This will delete everything and essentially reset your computer to a blank slate, but it’s a great way to make it run as smoothly as it did the day you bought it. Just remember to back up your files first!

You’ll also want to perform virus and spyware scans on a regular basis to ensure there are no malicious programs on your computer. This will greatly help improve the performance of your computer and will reduce the risk of your data or computer being compromised.

DO WE NEED TO PHYSICALLY CLEAN OUR COMPUTERS?

One of the things that you might not realize when working remotely versus working in an office is that computers do occasionally need to be physically cleaned. When you work in an office, there’s likely a technician that takes care of this, but when you’re working at home on a laptop or home desktop, you probably won’t realize the importance of keeping it clean.

An important remote work tip is to keep your computer free of dust. This is especially important for laptops because we tend to move them around and may work in dusty or busy areas. When our computers accumulate dust, they tend to clog up the fans in our system and may cause slowdowns and performance issues. This is because dust causes our systems to heat up more quickly and may block air vents or fans which are needed for cooling.

Thankfully, cleaning this out is fairly simple. All you need is a can of air or an air compressor, and then carefully blow out the dust to keep your system clean.
