HuaweiHuawei Maimang 40 phone could debut with satellite calling feature

A new leak reveals that the Huawei Maimang 40 is in development and may debut soon with ultimate features like satellite calling. If the current input is true, it would be the first Maimang smartphone to support premium satellite communication.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus says that the Huawei Maimang 40 is about to launch in the consumer market with a satellite calling feature. The leak also hints that the handset could be available at 2000 yuan with many new enhancements.

Huawei used to sell Maimang phones before 2019. It is a China-exclusive device that focuses on the entry-level phone market. But to keep these devices free from the US restrictions, the company sold the brand to China Telecom.

Simply put, Maimang is no longer a Huawei device and is made for a specific Chinese network.  But it falls under Huawei’s special smart selection section for third-party devices that are supported by the company’s efficient services.

Many netizens showed their excitement for the device’s launch after seeing that it can bring a satellite calling feature on board. So far, satellite-based features have been a part of top-tier devices. However, this trend may change this year.

The company has introduced Enjoy 70X with Beidou satellite messaging capability. Now, the OEM may bring the premium satellite calling feature to Maimang 40.

The tipster didn’t reveal any other details or specifications of the device. On the flip side, the exact launch date is still unconfirmed. Though Huawei could unveil the new budget-friendly smartphone by the end of this month or in July 2025.
