MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 SoC is set to succeed the 9300 as the brand’s flagship smartphone SoC, posing a formidable challenge to the also upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 from Qualcomm – the latter of which is expected to boast a gargantuan increase to clock speed.
Recent reports, including a Geekbench leak, have shed some much-needed light on the flagship SoC’s specifications, which is poised to boast an 8-core setup which includes its primary core clocked at 3.63 GHz, three performance cores at 2.80 GHz, and four more performance cores, likely Cortex-A725, at 2.10 GHz.
Initial reports had indicated an October launch for the Dimensity 9400, which was further substantiated by the Vivo X200’s official launch date set for October 14th. Now, the prominent tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the Dimensity 9400 will see the light of day on October 9th, followed by the X200’s launch 5 days later. However, he did not share any further information regarding the SoC.
Apple’s recently launched A18 and A18 Pro’s Geekbench scores have recently leaked online, wherein the flagship SoCs have demonstrated commendable performance, coming close to the desktop-class M1. With the Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 joining the arena likely by next month, a true flagship SoC power struggle appears inevitable.
