Samsung Galaxy S25 Camera Brings iPhone-Like Photographic Style Filters

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series brings upgraded camera filters. Unlike previous Samsung flagships, these new filters offer granular controls to fine-tune the mood of your photos. They are closer to the iPhone 16’s Photographic Styles than traditional Instagram filters. The new Galaxy S25 camera app now includes 10 default filters, with more available for download through the Galaxy Store.

The latest Samsung flagship phones feature a redesigned camera app with a four-dot toggle on the bottom right of the viewfinder. Tapping this toggle gives you access to camera settings, flash, timer, and more. Swipe to the right and you’ll find the filter icon as the second-last option.

On my Galaxy S25 Ultra, I found 10 filters: Breeze, Pulse, Crystal, Shiver, Chill, Glow, Amber, Sunbeam, Shadow, and Shade. There’s also a download option that leads to the Galaxy Store, allowing you to add more of these. You can access them in both Photo and Video modes but not in the Portrait mode. But once a portrait photo is clicked, you can add a filter to it through the Edit option in Gallery app. They are available to all photos inside the Gallery, including screenshots.

The Galaxy S25 camera filters differ from previous years because they offer finer levels of control. After selecting a filter, you can adjust settings such as Strength, Color Temperature, Contrast, Saturation, and Film Grain. Notably, the Strength, Contrast, and Film Grain controls are unavailable for the Shadow and Shade filters since they are black-and-white options.

Adjustments can be made using sliders and saved for future use, but you can always revert them by pressing the undo button.

The new Galaxy S25 camera filters appear to be inspired by the iPhone 16’s Photographic Styles. These allow you to refine the aesthetic of your photos. I’ve enjoyed playing around with these features on my iPhone 16 Pro, and I expect Samsung’s implementation to offer a similarly playful experience.

These filters are available across all three Galaxy S25 models. However, this feature is likely not part of One UI 7, as running the latest beta on the Galaxy S24 does not grant access to the new filters. As of now, it’s unclear whether Samsung will bring them to previous flagship devices.
