A previous report detailed the improvements the Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to bring when it launches later in the year. The larger foldable has been tipped to launch with the same battery capacity as its predecessor, however, but the reverse looks to be true for the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip7.
As shared by Galaxy Club, the Galaxy Z Flip7 looks set to launch with bigger batteries than the Galaxy Z Flip6. Samsung has equipped its foldables with dual-battery setups over the past few generations, and the source report claims both batteries on the Galaxy Z Flip7 will be bigger than the ones on last year’s phones.
Reportedly, the larger battery on the Galaxy Z Flip7 has a capacity of 2985 mAh, with a smaller one rated at 1189 mAh alongside it, making for a combined rated capacity of 4174 mAh. The Galaxy Z Flip6 had a combined rated battery capacity of 3887 mAh which was badged as 4000 mAh, so it’s likely the Galaxy Z Flip7 gets marketed as having a 4300 mAh battery.
Increased battery performance on the Galaxy Z Flip7 is a welcome development but would still leave the foldable lagging behind its peers. Xiaomi’s Mix Flip launched last year with a 4780 mAh battery, for example, and the Mix Flip 2 is expected to feature a battery with a capacity north of 5000 mAh, thanks to the superior energy density of Silicon-Carbon chemistry.
