Spotify is expending into a personalized playlist that updates throughout the day based on users’ listening habits around the globe.
This rollout follows the company’s initial introduction of the feature to English-speaking markets last year.
According to Techcrunch, the playlist will be available to both free and premium users.
The company also announced support for 14 additional languages, including Arabic, Catalan, French (Canada), French (France), German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), and Turkish.
Spotify introduced the daylist feature in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland in September 2023. In March 2024, the feature expanded to 65 more countries, and now it is being launched in all markets where Spotify is available.
Spotify noted that after the March expansion, 70% of daylist users returned weekly to access their playlists.
However, the company did not specify the total number of users who have used this feature or the extent of music discovery it promotes.
Users can find the daylist in the Spotify app under the “Made for You” section or on the web.
The playlist and its title change throughout the day, sometimes featuring quirky names like “bedroom pop banger early morning” or “90s rave rainforest late night.”
When launched, Spotify stated that it utilizes data on “niche music and microgenres” that users listen to at specific times to suggest tracks and refresh the daylist.
Users can also save a preferred playlist by tapping the three-dot menu, selecting the “Add to Playlist” option, and then choosing “New Playlist” to save the exact daylist to their library.
