KPMG’s recent survey of 223 healthcare executives say that nearly 80% of their information technology has been compromised by cyber-attacks. Apart from typical financial fraud, the possibility of medical insurance fraud, attacks on computer-controlled medical devices and the richness and uniqueness of patient information makes healthcare cyber threats a matter of national security. However despite such significant risks, this survey finds that the healthcare sector lags in terms of preparedness for cyber threats.

This report helps healthcare providers and health plans better understand their greatest vulnerabilities for cyber threats and discuss ways to become better prepared and increase their organizational capabilities at all levels.
